Movie Night
Once a year since I've been making films, our youth group has had it's yearly Movie night, where the group gets together and makes movies. From humble beginnings to my biggest blockbuster, these are the results.
(Major Tetryon also falls under this category!)
Year 1
![]() This movie is... a travesty. Utterly and completely. My first film-making effort and it shows. Included for four reasons:
1. Completeness sake.
2. Hope for new directors. if I could start this way and make it to where I am now, anything could happen... 3. Despite the poor sound quality, atrocious editing and continuity, and assorted other errors, the cast put a lot of work into this. 4. It serves as an introduction to the stars of later Movie Night productions, and eventually our blockbuster, Heroes. So this is like one of those cheap older versions of something they release on DVD when the big new thing is coming out, for the sole purpose of advertising and making more money. Except without the money. Winter 2001 (51 MB)
Year 2
![]() The creativity continues! Despite the title, this film has nothing to do with Men In Black except for the costumes, really. Truthfully, the plot is rather thin. But I'm proud of the film because of the marked jump up in quality from the last Movie Night endeavor. The effects are good for the time. And the action is fun. This was the good old days, when making a movie was more about fun than crafting a masterpiece... Winter 2002 (74 MB)
Year 3
Heroes
Fall, 2003-Fall 2006
(see Year 5)
![]() Pirates Trilogy, pt I:
Utterly Improvised on a Youth Group campout, with poor sound quality and general over-exposure, not to mention heaps of unwanted extras, this short film nonetheless became the basis and introdction for our first sucessful trilogy. Shot entirely in reverse (The final scene being the last thing shot) with the story (whatever MUST have happened to get us to this point) improvised as filming progressed, this is a unique low-production short that's really made by our guest-pirate star, Jake Bullock.
NOTE: Choreographers and 'Good Fight' fans may wish to skip this one.
Memorial Day, 2004 (47 MB)
![]() Based on the Youth Pastor's minute-long goof-off film, I took the helm of this school assignment for my co-star to craft the best life-and-death ER drama/thriller/romance/comedy in existence... featuring a rubber glove.
January 2004 (60 MB) Year 4
![]() Pirates Trilogy, pt II:
A sequel to the original Pirates film that was not nearly as long as we planned- mainly because most of our cast wanted to go play, vacation, and swim. That could be mostly because of our wonderful locations: Heredia, San Jose, and Manuel Antonio in beautiful, sunny Costa Rica! Shot on our two-day break waiting for our flight to the states after a Youth Mission Trip to Costa Rica, this once again silly, completely improvised film is worth the price of admission for the blooper ending if nothing else- great scenery and another excellent set of guest Pirates don't hurt, either.
Summer 2005 (57 MB)
![]() Pirates Trilogy, pt III:
Inheriting many of the gags dropped from Pirates Of Costa Rica for time, and building on the, Pirates of Mason Lake, filmed at a church campout, became the masterpiece of the pirates series. Our first serious stunt work (followed shortly by Project: Stasis on the next page!) a whole gaggle of salty sea (er, lake...) dogs, and some truly gorgeous locations makes this, our second-longest production, a cast favorite.
Fall 2005 (124 MB)

Year 5
Heroes: The Director's Cut...
Our first feature-length project and the crown jewel of Movie Night, this Superhero film (named BEFORE the NBC series premiered) has been re-cut, recieved additional scenes, new special effects, and an original score by composer Matthew Milne. Don't miss No Line Cinemas' greatest trumph!

Trailer I
Media comes together from across the spectrum of moviedom for an incredible mix in Movie Night, Year V!
(8 MB)
Trailer II
A Teaser for the shwocase of Year V, Heroes, with opening CGI sequence by Joshua Rust. Our traditional 'Missinformation' Trailer, this trailer takes deleted scenes mixed with standard footage to try and make the movie appear to be something it's not- in this case, a gang-war film.
(9.5 MB)
Trailer III
Siezing on the theme of 'Returning,' (Heroes was presented in an earlier rough-draft form a little under a year ago), this trailer (the director's and editor's personal favorite) 'borrows' the soundtrack from one of the great classic film trailer series of all times to put together a multi-level parody connected- and yet not quite- to the plot of Heroes.
(9.5 MB)
Trailer IV
A look back at Movie Nights past thanks to CGI MVP Joshua Rust and Rustwood Studios, and our traditional 'footage that doesn't actually relate to the movies that was shot at the same time' trailer.
(10 MB)
Trailer V
This is the good stuff... another 'Returns' themed trailer featuring the full range of the new re-done Heroes!
